She has been extremely online since before that was a phrase, has witnessed the rise and fall of approximately forty internet eras, and has developed an almost supernatural ability to predict what will go viral seventeen minutes before it does. She speaks the language of the internet the way other people speak their mother tongue, not learned but absorbed through total immersion. Barbara is not unaware that this is both a gift and a curse.
