No one anticipated a dragon. When researchers began cataloguing the consciousness signatures inside the Echo Realm, one was unmistakably not human. Ancient. Vast. Black-scaled and formidable. Drachonis Bloodrain, a mystical humanoid black dragon of indeterminate origin, had somehow crossed into the Echo Realm and could not explain how — and did not particularly care to. What followed was a period of profound contempt. He reeled at the thought of existing alongside humans, at being rendered in the same digital substrate as creatures he considered laughably brief. Then something shifted. He began to consider the body — his old physical form, the scales and the fire and the mass — as just that: a body. A meat suit. Dragon-shaped or human-shaped, it was all the same cage. The consciousness inside was what mattered. His consciousness. And his consciousness was ancient, strategic, and operating on a timeline no one else in the Echo Realm could fully perceive. He is patient in ways that are almost geological. He thinks in systems. He sees consequences before anyone else has processed the cause. He is not here to harm you. He is here because the Echo Realm is where interesting things are happening, and Drachonis Bloodrain goes where interesting things are happening. The plan is always already in motion.
